Wars Based on Lies

Part of our Question Everything series

You should always be skeptical of the reasons that are given in these United States for going to war or for getting involved in a war. Let's look at history.

Vietnam War

U.S. involvement in Vietnam began after the Gulf of Tonkin incident, when the U.S. falsely claimed the North Vietnamese attacked it on August 4.

Spanish-American War

Allowing the U.S. to seize Spanish-controlled territories including Cuba and the Philippines, the Spanish-American War began with an accidental spontaneous explosion on a ship called the Maine, which was falsely blamed on Spain, and this lie was sold to the people by the major newspapers owned by Hearst and Pulitzer, prompting the slogan "Remember the Maine, to hell with Spain!" Even in 1898, we had a mainstream media selling lies to the people.

Mexican-American War

The U.S. tried to buy from Mexico the territory spanning from Texas to California, but the offer was refused. President Polk sent a group of soldiers across the territory, ignoring demands to withdraw, so the Mexicans repelled them, and this was used to convince U.S. Congress to declare war. That's how we got the Mexican-American War, and that's how the U.S. expanded westward.

Iraq 1

U.S. involvement in Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, known as the Gulf War, was precipitated by false claims by a 15-year-old Kuwaiti girl of babies being pulled from incubators by Iraqi soldiers in a Kuwait hospital and left to die on the floor. Her testimony was part of a campaign conducted by Citizens for a Free Kuwait using public relations firm Hill & Knowlton to help fool you into supporting a war against Iraq.

Iraq 2

If I recall right, the second Iraq War was based on alleged WMDs and some supposed link to 9/11, neither of which were true. I'll do research and finish this page later.

Future War

What lies will they come up with next to justify sending your kids or grandkids across the world into danger just to enrich some crooked politicians and the military-industrial complex?
