You can probably make decent money delivering groceries and takeout to people these days. I say tip well if they do a good job. These people are really working. They're not slacking off in an office or being criminals or plagiarizing articles on the web. They probably have to deal with a lot of crap, and I know I wouldn't feel too comfortable about going to random strangers' homes when I don't know what dogs they have or who wants to try to rob me or something. These are people who need the extra money.
I don't want to tip at all. I don't want to pay a single dollar more than I have to. But I always try to tip well and accept that as part of the deal. If we want to continue to be able to get deliveries, we need to make it worthwhile for people, and they do deserve it.
If you're doing deliveries, can you carry pepper spray or maybe bear spray or a concealed handgun? I think you should be able to.
Sell your old stuff or anything you can find at wholesale prices. You can advertise your yard sale on facebook, craigslist, or with signs or in the local papers. Or wait until the 301 Endless Yard Sale in June and you probably won't need to advertise at all.
Sell stuff on eBay. The only concern I have about selling on eBay is shipping, so I prefer to sell small, light items that are under a few ounces. If you have connections, I think maybe you can get cheaper shipping. Set a minimum or reserve price when auctioning on eBay to make sure you can cover shipping, but doing that could reduce the number of bidders that become interested in the auction. Keep the minimum as low as possible to increase interest. I'm no eBay expert, but I might even set the reserve price a little less than the shipping in hopes of attracting the maximum interest. It's slightly risky.
Sell some stuff on CraigsList. There is no shipping, but you might have to deal with random people calling, texting, or emailing, and ultimately meeting in person somewhere. You should only meet in a safe place because there is some risk when dealing with strangers that they might try to rob you or kill you or rape you or torture and mutilate you or something unpleasant like that. But most strangers are alright but maybe a little weird.
Are you a good salesperson? Rent a space, bring or rent tables and maybe a shelter. Sell your old stuff you want to get rid of, and/or find some good products at wholesale prices and offer them at a somewhat higher price to make a profit. You might be able to get an indoor area.
Like an indoor flea market. I don't know. I need to go and check it out. I assume their space is more limited, so I'd probably try selling at a flea market first, and if you like it and want an indoor setting, definitely consider the small shops mall. Or just call and see how receptive they are to your starting out there. Why not?
I think aluminum cans are worth at least a few cents each. You wouldn't leave a nickel laying on the ground, so why leave an aluminum can? Crush them and save them until you get a lot and take them to a local recycler to see how much you get for them. I think metal prices are up.
I tend to crush cans by stepping on them, but that can damage your shoes. We need a machine.
Copper also tends to be worth a lot. Other metals are worth less per pound, so you need more mass to equal the same money. Maybe scrap your junk cars after you've sold all the salable parts.
Maybe you think crime is a good way to earn some extra cash. You might as well go on and send your old people to the old folks home to be neglected and abused by strangers, because you won't be around the help keep them going when you're shot or in jail. Send your pets to the shelter to be euthanized because you won't be able to feed them when you're shot or in jail. Your kids will have to be raised and abused by some other asshole. But you can feel free to blame other people instead of your own sorry ass.
Our local taxpayers have a right to defend ourselves and our livelihoods, and our law enforcement and prosecutors should not be trying to punish us for doing that.
Don't disgrace yourself and your heritage by stealing. Think about all of the other things you could do to earn money that wouldn't be a disgrace and a dishonor to yourself and your family and your friends and your future great-grandchildren.
Maybe some get a thrill from getting away with stealing from others. If you think that's thrilling, imagine the thrill of becoming successful without needing to steal. Plus, it's way better than jail or the hospital or the cemetary. And I'll bet you can be successful without resorting to crime. Criminals can be clever, but it's not smart to risk bringing suffering into your life by resorting to crime when you're smart enough to be successful without all of that drama and tragedy and dishonor. Are those who glorify crime and anger and incarceration leading you the right way? They might be leading you to destruction. Feed your mind with positivity and get busy improving your life and your community, and you won't have time to be depressed or angry or getting into the drama.
Express yourself, but present a positive image to the world, and the world will reciprocate with positive results. We know you're unhappy about things. We're unhappy about things too. But the world isn't against you when you try to be a decent person.
Now get out there and make some money. I'll be adding more ideas here to help you earn extra cash, so check back soon.
